Post Sale Update: This Road Rocket sold for $5,700 after 12 bids on eBay.
Marketed as “undoubtedly the worlds greatest motorcycle” when it was released to the world in 1954, the BSA A10 Road Rocket was developed from the Golden Flash, but enhanced to compete with Triumphs and Nortons of its time. It was BSA’s top of the line bike, and in 1954 it took the top 5 places in the Daytona 200.
The 646cc air-cooled twin was good for 40 horsepower and a top speed of 109 miles per hour. It had a TT9 carb, aluminum cylinder heads, and a four-speed gearbox. The tach was optional, and the general styling lines would set a precedent for the next several years of Beezers.
This specific BSA A10 Road Rocket (VIN: CA10R575) was recently discovered at a yard sale as the current owner is no longer able to kick the bike over. It enjoyed a light restoration including a new tank, seat, clutch, oil lines, shocks, and more. You’ll get plenty of spare parts, as well. Check this listing for 8 different videos showing the bike being put through its paces. I’ll just share this one of startup and pulling away:
