Originally a bicycle manufacturer, Victoria produced motorcycles from about 1901 to 1966. One of their most well known models was the Victoria Bergmeister, as it was well-engineered. Unfortunately, the excellent design was very expensive to produce, and Victoria ran out of money after only 3 years of selling this bike. In ’58 they merged with another group.
The 350cc twin makes me think of a German copy of the Moto Guzzi engine, though it’s actually at 80 degrees – the engine produces 21 horsepower with a chain primary drive to the gearbox and shaft drive to the rear wheel. It’s claimed that only about 5,000 were made, and less than 100 survive worldwide.
This example (VIN: 352734) was restored five years ago, during which the ignition and charging system were converted to solid state. After the work, the bike was ridden for less than a mile and then drained of all fluids/had the battery removed. The sale includes the original owner’s manual as well as “professionally photocopied service and parts manuals in German.”
