1955 AJS 18S

The twin of the Matchless G80, this AJS 18S was a big, beautiful 500 single that was a great choice for riders who do their own work. Parts were designed to be rebuilt instead of replaced, and of the classic singles, this bike is probably the best supported of them all.

AJS 18S - Gauges

By the time this bike came out, AJS had already been partnered up with Matchless under the parent company of AMC for decades. Compare it to GM releasing similar cars under the Chevy/Pontiac/Oldsmobile brands. Producing just 28 horsepower, the G80 was never designed to be quick, but it was easy to ride, comfortable up to about 60 miles per hour, and returned excellent gas mileage. AJS 18S - Right Side

This specific AJS 18S has 7,200 miles which has been owned and restored by the current owner over the last 20 years. The only non-original item is a different front tire to accommodate a Watsonian sidecar that is available but not included in the purchase. Nearly the entire bike has been rebuilt, leading to a one-kick bike that runs well. You’ll also get the hard to find rear rack with an option of matching Craven panniers and topcase.
