Post-Listing Update: Unfortunately, this Moto Rumi was pulled off of eBay, final sale price unknown.
I’ve featured some Moto Rumi scooters before, but this Junior Corsa is a first on Bike-urious. As a reminder, Moto Rumi decided to build small motorbikes in Italy after World War II to provide transportation for the masses, and they built everything around a 125cc two stroke twin. They also got into racing, and even won the Italian National Championship in 1954. A year later they took their “Competizione” model and evolved it into the Junior Gentlemen and Junior Corsa, the latter of which you find here.
This example (VIN: 530) is claimed to be in extraordinary condition with just 5 miles since a restoration performed 6 years ago. This bike has an interesting story (which might scare away some buyers), but according to the seller the engine block is non-original and was first sent to Argentina in a bundle of factory racing engines. The block is not stamped with a number. Most parts of the bike are original but there’s plenty that was custom made: the tank, tank pad, front brake, headlight/shroud/windshield, clipons, Akron rims, seat, and shocks. The engine was rebuilt by a ‘Rumi specialist’ in Chicago, and the suspension has been set up for a 160 pound rider. Plus there’s some small things that ‘need to be corrected’: the tank sealant is starting to peel, there’s an oil leak, the seat needs more padding, the kick starter doesn’t work as well as push starting the bike until the engine is warm, and there’s no steering damper. Is it perfect? No. Is it incredibly cool, rare, and interesting? Hell yes. Let’s see how bidders react to this imperfect rarity.
