The Triumph T110 was introduced in 1954 as a replacement to the T100 which was so named because it’s top speed was in excess of 100 MPH. The T110 was the world’s fastest production motorcycle in 1955 and aimed squarely at the American market. In September of 1956 Johnny Allen set the motorcycle land speed record of 214.17 MPH on a modified T110 at Bonneville which would lead to the development of the Triumph Bonneville.

The 1955 Triumph T110 Tiger featured a 649 CC (40 CID) air cooled overhead valve vertical twin with a single Amal Monoblock carb that produced a prodigious 42 HP. Run through a 4 speed transmission and a wet clutch it put the top speed at 110 MPH. Hydraulic suspension on both ends and a curb weight of 395 LBS completed a very sporty package.
