Post Sale Update: After 39 bids on eBay, this MV Agusta Super Pullman sold for $3,350.
Though MV Agusta is typically known for large-displacement super sports, they focused plenty of their efforts on small two-strokes in the 50s and 60s. The MV Agusta Super Pullman, despite the name, was not simply an upgrade of the 125cc Pullman model. A completely different model with a different frame and wheels, it did not sell as well. As such, only approximately 3,000 were released to the world between ’56 and ’57.
The Pullman model was more of a scooter – the Super Pullman was a proper bike with a pressed-steel spine frame, leading-link front forks and 18″ inch wheels. The single-cylinder, 125cc two-stroke engine produced 6 horsepower at 6,000 rpm. A 4-speed transmission and chain drive put power to the rear wheels, with 125mm drums taking care of the stopping duties front and rear. It weighed 180 pounds and was capable of 45 miles/hour and an impressive 95 miles per gallon.
This specific MV Agusta Super Pullman had a restoration many years ago, and is starting to show patina again. As the seller states, the question is up to the next buyer about if re-chroming will be necessary to make a show bike, or to leave it as is (as I would), and enjoy a beautiful classic that shows the wear of being ridden. It runs well and has had a front suspension upgrade. Service history and mileage is unknown, but with a 56 year old bike, there shouldn’t be any expectations anyway.
