White International was an American company that imported bikes from overseas and rebranded them under their own name, similar to what Sears, Montgomery Ward, and later, Harley-Davidson did. In this case, the bikes being re-branded were Hungarian-built Csepel/Pannonias.
The bike was powered by a single cylinder, two-stroke engine with dual exhausts. It was rated at 20 hp with an advertised top speed of 75 mph. It also had numerous interesting features. The gear cluster was removable intact without splitting the engine, and the rear shocks were double-damped and rebuildable. In addition, the bike has a color-coded, fully removable wiring harness. There is a lot more information and a Cycle magazine road test here on the BritBike Forum.
This bike is complete, although the seller does not seem to know much about it. He only has 5 pictures, but a cursory glance shows the obvious components all present, especially the certainly almost unobtanium body pieces, such as the tank, side-boxes, air filter cover, chain guard and fenders. He does not address the mechanical condition of the engine, however.
If you love offbeat, small displacement Euro bikes, here’s an interesting one, for sure. You can find it outside of Atlanta, Georgia for $1,800 here on Craigslist.
