Despite the name, the Golden Flash (named for the “Polychromatic Golden Beige” scheme) was only available in black for home-market British customers. Thankfully, this export model has no such problem.
The predecessor of the Super Rocket, the Golden Flash was introduced in 1949, and was available with a rigid rear or a plunger suspension. It wasn’t designed to be a sport bike, but it was still fast compared to the competition. It could top 100 miles per hour and knock out a sub 16-second quarter mile.
This example had rear wheel horsepower bumped from 23 to 32 horsepower after the head was gas flowed. The bike “has had a complete restoration” with Thorspark ignition, hard luggage, and windshield. In the seller’s words, “if you are looking for a classic British bike that is reliable, comfortable, and quick,….this is it!” Find this Golden Flash for sale in Dundas, Ontario, Canada for $6,642 here on Kijiji.
