Post Listing Update: This Hummer was pulled off of eBay, final sale price unknown.
Between 1948 and 1966, Harley-Davidson produced a series of two-stroke, three-speed small displacement thumpers that were based on the DKW RT125 (blueprints were obtained as part of reparations for WWII). The Hummer was built between ’55 and ’59, but that name has somehow evolved to encompass the entire line of these basic 125s.
The Hummer was named after Harley employee Dean Hummer, who had the idea to strip the motorcycle to the bare minimum to compete on price – it did not have a battery, horn, turn signals, or even a brake light system. For more on this basic Harley, check out HarleyHummer.com.
This example looks beautiful with a Hi-Fi Green/Birch White paint scheme. The bike has a rebuilt motor, new Firestone Deluxe Champion tires, and the electrical system (which includes a brake lamp) all works.
