Post Listing Update: This Venom did not meet reserve despite 17 bids up to $10,000 on eBay in Armada, Michigan.

The Velocette Venom will always be in the history books because a factory-prepped example set a world record as the first bike to average over 100 miles per hour in a 24 hour period. 5,721 Venoms rolled off the assembly line between 1955-1970 – here’s a beautiful example that’s ready for you to do some classic touring with!

The Venom featured a 499cc four-stroke single that produced 34 horsepower. For more information on the Venom, check out this profile on Classic British Motorcycles – they note that this single was a bit of an overachiever as Velo used it to fight against a bevy of twins from the competition.

This example (VIN: RS10952) was acquired by the seller on eBay in 2008. The seller bought the bags three years later. “Everything on the bike works as it should, except the horn.” Both tank badges are cracked but the sale includes one replacement. Other goodies include a spare new exhaust, electronic ignition (original mag is dead but included in sale), LED brake light, upgraded oil filter, some stainless steel parts, and a whole bunch of paperwork,
