The Norton Dominator was brought to challenge Triumph’s Speed Twin. The Dommie was built for about 15 years, and spanned many generations – one of the most influential was the Model 88.
The 88 took Norton’s 500cc vertical twin and then put it in the instant classic Featherbed frame. The frame was incredibly rigid and helped contribute to racing success on and even off the track. Unfortunately, the 200 Model 88s that were being built each week suffered from rather poor quality control. For more on the history of the entire Dommie line, check out this great write-up from Classic British Motorcycles.
This specific Norton Dominator had an older restoration, since which just 73 miles have been put on. The restoration included an engine rebuild with Superblend engine bearings. This bike has a few rare extras including the Smiths tach, siamesed exhaust, and a dual carb kit.
