The Zundapp Citation is an interesting motorcycle that started as a Horex Imperator. The latter’s 400cc engine had the displacement increased to 452cc, and it was then named after the Triple-Crown winning horse.
Marketed as a 500cc bike, the engine produced 40 horsepower. The Citation featured 8:1 compression and an overhead cam. Earles type forks, 18″ wheels, and a “guaranteed” 100mph were all par for the course. For more on the Citation, check out this article from Cycle World.
This example (VIN: 2255643) is said to be “beautifully restored” and a “perfect example.” The seller doesn’t have much else to say, but he/she includes a running video:
