Allow me to momentarily turn into “Ice Vehicle-urious” – that name does not work at all. Built between 1960 and 1964 by Northern Manufacturing Company in Oak Harbor, Ohio, the Ice Skeeter was marketed as a ‘brand new winter sport’ that let you ‘skim over ice and packed snow.’ For more information, check out this Chicago Tribune news blurb from 1961 about the contraption, which notes that it could be great for ice fishermen.
Powered by a Clinton-Panther 2.5 horsepower engine, the Model 100 was supposedly capable of hitting 35 miles per hour. Range was about 50 miles on 3 pints of gas and it had a carrying capacity of 350 pounds. This example is serial number 6 and is claimed to be in good condition, though the seller says it may need a chain (included) and front blades. The plexiglass body has a crack or two but that’s to be expected.
