If you don’t know what gives the Triton name, here’s a little history lesson. The term Triton came about as many private builders (and even some dealerships in London) started to take the best features of Triumphs and Nortons – the engine from the former and the frame from the latter – to make a bike that had the best of both worlds. Triton combines the two names (and is also the name of a Greek God). Most Tritons utilized the Norton Featherbed frame and utilized a 650 or 750 Triumph engine – this bike uses the Featherbed frame and a 750cc engine.
In the seller’s words, ‘I built this bike 25 years ago with a recent makeover…the motor is a mix of pre-unit and unit parts. The gas and oil tank are handmade and one of a kind. The goal was to make a Cafe bike that is comfortable and reliable but loud and raw at the same time, and it has been achieved.’ It has a recent paint job and a new seat, along with an updated clutch, Boyer ignition, and an oil-tight motor.
