Replacing the WR, the Harley-Davidson KR was the American firm’s last flathead. It was a successful racer for nearly two decades, though less than 500 were built over 15 years.
Often used as a flat track racer (in which case the swinging arm rear suspension was replaced with a rigid rear), this bike competed in AMA Class C. It was superseded by the Iron XR750. For all kinds of information on the KR, check out this site dedicated to the KR/KRTT racers and the bikes that evolved from them.
This specific KR has been professionally restored and kept in “excellent concours condition”. It has only run 2 exhibition races (and won both) since restoration, and is being offered by a former flat track champion and owner of a flat track in Southern California. Note that this bike was up for bid at Bonhams Las Vegas last week with an estimated value of $35,000-$45,000 – I guess it did not sell.
