The first Royal Enfield was built in 1901, the last one built in England was in 1970 but a direct descendent of the company builds them today in India. The Bullet was introduced in 1948 as a 350 CC single, with a 500 CC single added in 1950. From 1964 to 1970 the Bullet was produced both in England and India. With the economic failure of the British company in 1970 all production of Royal Enfield shifted to India. The Bullet has been in continuous production since 1948 making it the longest lived model in motorcycle history, with 9 more years than the Harley Davidson Sportster.
The 1964 Royal Enfield Bullet 350 (there was also a 500 Bullet in 1964) used a 346 CC air cooled four stroke overhead valve single cylinder motor that produced 22 HP pushed through a multi disk wet clutch to a 4 speed transmission for a top speed in excess of 60 MPH. With a telescopic front fork and a dampened swingarm in the rear and a weight of 396 LBS it was a very popular choice.
This particular ‘64 Bullet 350 (VIN: G244464) is in Lomita, California and is listed as a carefully stored fully original survivor. The Vin # is correct for an English built Bullet 350 (a large number of scam Bullets have been sold out of India). The bike has a starting price of $3,000 and a Buy It Now price of $3,500 in an auction that ends Friday, December 2nd
