First released in 1935, the Velocette MSS was a semi-stalwart that was built until 1968. The long production run is a little misleading, as the MSS was interrupted by World War II. The model was relaunched in 1954 with the same name but a complete redesign – it featured a MAC frame, optional bags, and sidecar mounting lugs on the frame. This one’s an interesting custom which the seller calls a “custom desert cafe enduro racer.” I have no idea what that means, but looking at the photos, it’s tough to categorize this one!
Per the seller, this has a rebuilt motor (60 over), transmission, and magneto. It’s also got a 12V generator, Dave Smith clutch, and a few new parts. The Velocette engine has been stuff in a BSA frame “modified to replicate the Goldstar Keystone racer.” He adds that it’s “titled as a 1954 but likely a 1964 per records.”
