Post Sale Update: This Veeline sold for $11,100 after 25 bids on eBay.
The Venom is already a cool bike. But when you get the full Velocette Venom Clubman Veeline spec, with the beautiful fairing, it’s just a whole ‘nother level of fascinating.
The first production motorcycle to hit an average speed of over 100 miles per hour over 24 hours, the Velocette Venom was the ‘big-brother’ to the Viper and was an evolution from the MSS. Powered by a 499cc four-stroke single, this bike became Velocette’s flagship and is thus highly sought after. For more information on the Venom (and the Veeline), check out this profile from Vintage Motorcycles Online.
This specific Velocette Venom Clubman Veeline (VIN: RS17215) has just 6,229 miles on the odometer. It features a Lucas manual racing magneto, Thruxton seat, and Thruxton front brake. It came with a 10TT9 carb but the seller finds it to be difficult to tube – the carb was just replaced with an Amal monobloc. The seller recently acquired this bike at auction from the Mike Doyle collection, which leads me to believe it might have been purchased at Mecum in Houston.
