Post-Listing Update: This Gilera 202 Super did not meet reserve at $2,750.
Founded in 1909, Gilera produced several small displacement racers until it was bought by Piaggio in 1969. One of the many street bikes built to help fund racing efforts was the Gilera 202 Super, an over-square thumper that features a lovely paint scheme on the tank.
Built in the mid to late 60s, the Super 202 was one of the last iterations of Gilera’s single-cylinder roadsters. The engine produced 11.5 horsepower at 6,500 rpm, propelling the Super to a top speed over 70 miles per hour.
This specific Gilera 202 Super (VIN: 201653) has 6,621 miles and has been in a museum for the last 10 years. It’s never been restored, and you’ll need to clean the carbs and buy a new battery, among the other things required to bring a bike back from a 10 year long sleep.
