Post Sale Update: This Scat sold for $5,100 after 14 bids on eBay in Maggie Valley, North Carolina.
An evolution of the Harley-Davidson Pacer, the Scat was a dual-sport variant differentiated with some bolt on parts and some truly distinctive style. Look at that rear fender!
The model was introduced in 1961 – three years later it got a new frame with rear suspension to envelope the 175cc motor. Changes from the Pacer included softer seat springs, dual-sport tires, an optional low final drive ratio from the Ranger (full off-road model), and some “high” parts – the handlebars, front fender, and exhaust. This 1965 model is from the last year of production.
This example was restored by Puckett’s Harley-Davidson (no longer available) and it only needs oil and gas to ride. It’s equipped with the original Tillotson carb and the seller is Dale Walksler, curator of the Wheels Through Time Museum – they’ve been selling off a significant part of their collection over the last few months (and they’ve also got a ’56 HD Hummer here on eBay)
