Post Sale Update: This Manet sold for $1,844 after 19 bids on eBay in Addison, Illinois.
Built between 1958 and 1969, the Manet S-100 was a Czechoslovakian scooter built by Povazske Strojirny that was claimed to return 100 mpg (no, that’s not where the name came from). During that production run, the company became part of Jawa – 51,244 examples were built in total, but very few made it to the US.
The 98cc 2-stroke engine pushed 5 horsepower through a 4-speed transmission. rolling on 14″ wheels, the top speed was 46 miles per hour, and the whole package weighed 243 pounds. Period advertisements noted the standard features included an electric starter, turn signals, windshield, and luggage rack, stating that there were “no extras to buy” and that “this is a scooter that compares in price with those costing more than $400…yours for only $325.”
This example is a runner with original paint – the seller notes that he took it for a short 2 mile spin before listing it for sale. The only non-original part is the petcock, which is from a Vespa.
