In the early 60’s Yamaha was widely considered to have the best mannered 2 stroke motors, but in 1964 they broke new ground with the YDS. A parallel twin two stroke with the first direct injection oil pump – and it worked!
The 1965 YDS3 sported a 246cc parallel twin that produced 27 HP. Matched with a 5 speed gearbox and very light 330 LBS made this bike very quick indeed. Brakes and frame were considered superior and the cornering was said to be impressive.
This particular bike is a seriously good looking survivor. The ‘65’s were especially stylish with their two tone seats. Bike is for sale at $4,200 or best offer in Santa Ana, California.
