1966 BSA Spitfire Mark II

Despite the “Mark II” designation, this was actually the first generation of the Spitfire. Until the debut of the Rocket III, this was the biggest, baddest bike in the BSA lineup.

The 654 cc parallel twin was good for 54 horsepower, and BSA optimistically claimed that was sufficient for the Spitfire to hit 120 miles per hour. For more on the Spitfire, check out this Retrospective from Rider Magazine.

This example (VIN: A65S13275) has 10,800 miles on the odometer and it’s said to run strong thanks to a restoration (unclear how long ago the work was done). The original fiberglass tank has been replaced with a steel replica that will cope with the hassles of modern ethanol-laced fuel, though it does not seem like the original tank is included in the sale.
