The XLCH is one of the jewels of the Sportster model line. The CH is affectionately referred to as “Competition Hot” by some and it had a few changes from the XLH, notably a different tank and seat, as well as the removal of electric start and the battery. Both models were introduced in 1958 – the CH was a 883 until 1972, when it became a 1000.
According to this blurb from Motorcycle Classics, claimed power for the XLCH was 50 ponies, good for a top speed of 120 miles per hour. Wet weight is 452 pounds. This example (VIN: 66XLCH4180) looks like it’s recently been refurbished with excellent paint, a rebuilt magneto, and some aftermarket parts in the solo plunger seat. The carb is from a newer model but otherwise the seller says it’s quite original.
