In the mid 1960’s America went mad for dirt motorcycles. Husky, Maico, Bultaco dominated the racing, but a huge market fraction was devoted to ‘Scrambler’ type motorcycles that could be licensed on the street but ridden on the dirt. Enter the Triumph T100 SC. Most of the competition was either a dirt racer with lights or a road bike with high pipes while the T100 SC was actually pretty good for both.
The 1966 Triumph Sport Tiger T100 SC used a 490 CC (29.9 CID) uses an air cooled overhead valve four stroke parallel twin motor with a single carb to produce 38 HP and push it through a 4 speed trans for a top speed near 105 MPH. Frame, shock and wheel choices gave the SC about 9 inches of ground clearance with 335 LBS of weight for a very rideable package.
This particular 1966 Triumph T100 SC (VIN # T100SCH41687) is in Burbank, CA and is listed as a good running, built original. The bike lacks the lights that would make it fully street legal, and has been recently serviced. Current price is at $255 with the reserve not met in an auction that ends Sunday, October 30th
