If you grew up in the 1950s and ‘60s rural America (like I did) one of the really big things to watch for was the current editions of the Montgomery Wards and Sears catalogs. You could buy ANYTHING by mail from these two giant retailers. And you could certainly tell the interests of the whole family by the worn sections of the catalog.

One of the fragile sections at our house every year was the motorcycle section. Yes, both retailers sold (rebadged) motorcycles. Maybe the best of the whole lot were the rebadged Benelli Riverside sold by Montgomery Wards. They were certainly among the most popular.

The 1967 Wards Riverside 250 (made by Benelli) used a 245 CC air cooled four stroke overhead valve single cylinder motor that made 22 HP paired with a four speed transmission. Telescopic front forks and dual rear shocks, drum brakes back and front and a total weight of 231 LBS.

This particular 1967 Wards Riverside 250 (VIN# 17553) is in Garden Grove, California and is listed as a 1,972 mile original survivor. Seller states that his father put a few hundred miles on this bike and it has the original tools. The bike is currently bid at $1,025
