It was the best of times, it was the worst of times (sorry Mr. Dickens). The 1968 Shooting Star was the road version of the legendary BSA Victor, often considered BSA’s best single. In fact, the legend for BSA’s singles mostly came from the motocross track where they were dominant in the middle 60s. The actual bikes you could buy had a horrible electric system, were prone to pieces falling off, leaked oil and were near impossible to start. But they looked really good and the sound is never to be forgotten.

The 1968 BSA Shooting Star featured a 441 CC (26.91 CID) air cooled four stroke single cylinder overhead valve motor that produced a very nice 30 HP. A 4 speed transmission and a mere 320 LBS overall weight took the top speed to 95 MPH. Good brakes and good handling completed the package.
