The Yamaha DT-1 250 was an absolute game changer when it was released, as it essentially created and dominated the market in the US. In fact, some argue it’s the most significant motorcycle in Yamaha’s history – the initial production run of 12,000 was instantly scooped up, and competitors immediately rushed out their takes on the cheap, reliable dual-sport.

Yamaha DT-1 - Tank

This specific Yamaha DT-1 (VIN: DT107316) has been ‘meticulously restored’ and it looks great in a redone Pearl White paint job. The speedometer is from a later year bike, the underside of the gas tank has a slight paint flaw, and the seat has minor scratches. The seller has been restoring vintage Japanese bikes for 40 years, and this Yamaha spent some time on display as part of the “Motorcycles in the Park” exhibit at the San Diego Automotive Museum.
