In the mid 1960’s America went completely crazy for dirt motorcycles and those that looked like they might be dirt capable. The CL designation from Honda meant Scrambler, and that was a higher rear fender, braced handlebars and a high mounted exhaust. The CL 90 was a full brother to the legendary S 90 and aimed at entry level riders. It was killed after the 1969 model year in favor of the CL70 because multiple states went to a ‘restricted’ license that required less than 5 HP.

The 1969 Honda CL 90 used a single cylinder air cooled overhead cam four stroke motor that pushed 8.2 HP through a 4 speed transmission for a top speed of 62 MPH. The Scrambler look provided a high mounted exhaust, braced handlebars and more fender clearance on the standard pressed steel frame that weighed 176 LBS.
