Post Sale Update: This Triumph sold for $5,775 after 54 bids on eBay.
Built over the last 6 months, this cafe racer is based on a Triumph Trophy 650 that’s been on non-op since 1997.
The Trophy was known as the TR6C, and one of its most famous moments was in the chase scene of The Great Escape with Steve McQueen (though they were made to look like BMW R75s instead). This bike is a 1970 model – in that year the Trophy won the Barstow to Vegas desert race and the World Championship Hare and Hound. 1,880 examples were sold in ’70, the last year before Triumph went to the oil-in-frame models. This bike (VIN: ED50193TR6R) features a 12V conversion, hand built battery box, side cover from a BSA, and several new parts including the exhaust, tach, tail light, gas cap, parcel rack, brakes, and more. Plenty of other parts were powdercoated or rechromed, as well.
