Here’s a highly original, numbers-matching example of a rare Yamaha – the DS6. An evolution of the YDS line, this was a 250cc class single that had a 5-valve cylinder. It produced about 29 horsepower, and was available in a scrambler variant as well.
A period test from Motorcycle Sport magazine back in 1969 stated the top speed was 85 miles per hour and that the bike weighed 320 pounds. They summed it up as such: “this smoothly styled, impressively accelerative two-fifty, offering plenty of potential for tuning to well past 100 mph, is truly a motorcycle for the time.”
This specific DS6 has 7,600 miles and is claimed to be in great condition. The only flaw seems to be a small dent in the gas tank.
