In 1965 Harley Davidson bought a 50% stake in the Italian manufacturer Aermacchi. For over 10 years they sold the small Italian bikes in HD dealerships under the Aermacchi Harley Davidson marquee. In it’s time, AMF bought the other 50%, selling in 1978 to the company that would become Cagiva.
The 1971 Aermacchi Harley Davidson 125 Rapido featured a 123.5 CC air cooled two stroke single that made 13 HP. A 4 speed transmission would push the 250 LB single to about 72 MPH.
