Built by Jeff Yarrington of Saint Motor Company, this BSA B50SS has ditched its Street Scrambler roots in the process of becoming a cafe racer.
When BSA released the B50 series of bikes in 1971, they ruffled some feathers by calling the Street Scrambler variant the “Gold Star”. It was based off the B50s 500cc unit-construction single, good for 34 horsepower and a top speed of about 80 miles per hour. Compared to the famous Victor Special, this bike was more reliable, weighed 10 pounds less, and produced 5 more horsepower. If you want more details, check out this article from Motorcycle Classics, who ask if the Gold Star name was ‘sullied’ by using it on this bike.
This numbers-matching bike (VIN: B50SSHE14563) was featured in Lowside Magazine, and it’s equipped with a .30 over piston, Boyer electronic ignition, Benelli fuel tank with 23k gold leaf paint for the BSA emblem, and more.
