Thanks to its distinctive silver metal flake fiberglass bodywork, Two Wheels called this the Desmo Mark 3 the Ducati Silver Shotgun. It’s one of the rarest desmo singles and it’s quite visually stunning.

The Silver Shotgun featured fiberglass bodywork (including the tank). In 1973 the tank was switched from fiberglass to steel because the US banned the former, and the bikes were dolled up into the distinctive yellow/orange. The engine produced 27 horsepower, which was sufficient to push the 286 pound bike up to 98 miles per hour. For more on the Silver Shotgun, check out this article from Motorcycle Classics.

This specific Ducati Silver Shotgun was one of just 3 brought into Australia between ’71 and ’72. 10 years ago it underwent a “nut & bolt restoration”. It then sat in the owners house as a display piece until last year, where it came to the seller for a ‘soft refurbishment.’ The bike will come with a CD full of high res pics of the restoration.
