Over the years, Honda has put out more than 70 ‘CB’ models from the CB50 to the CB 1300. Probably the most famous of these are the 4 cylinder in-line models as typified by the CB750 that turned the motorcycle industry on it’s ear in 1968.
The CB500 was introduced in 1971 with a 498 cc (30.4 CID) single overhead cam that boasted 50 hp and a claimed top speed of 115 mph. A chain driven 5 speed transmission made it go while a single disc front and drum rear stopped the bike. It weighed in at a surprising 443 lbs dry.
The original 4 into 4 exhaust has been changed to a 4 into 2 aftermarket setup (the early 70’s Honda exhausts were incredibly prone to rust). An incredibly low mileage bike that has been partially repainted, it’s a great piece of a long and epic line of Honda motorcycles.
