1971 Indian Boy Racer

In America, Off-Road, Small Displacement by AbhiLeave a Comment

Back in the days when Floyd Clymer owned the Indian name, he dabbled with a few small motorcycles like the Papoose, Indian Boy Racer, MM-5 minibike or the MT series of dirtbikes. One option was the Super Scrambler, which was offered in red/white, blue/white, or yellow/black.

Per Indian Dirtbike Parts, the Super Scrambler utilized a 50cc 2-stroke Minarelli engine with a Dell’Orto UB 20-S carb, one gallon fuel tank, wet clutch, and 6 volt ignition. The bike weighed 105 pounds, offered 9″ of ground clearance, and had a claimed top speed of 60 miles per hour.

The seller of this example says “there is for sure something magical about Indians,” something I should remind my girlfriend of. On a serious note, he says that “everything is original including the decals. A few very minor paint touch ups but a super clean original.” The seat upholstery seems a bit too bright to be original but the rest of the bike sure is well-preserved, I haven’t seen one of these for years.
