Post-Listing Update: This Laverda SF Vintage Racer was pulled off of eBay, final sale price unknown.
Was the Laverda SFC 750 I posted on Friday too expensive ‘original’ for you? Then you might want to take a look at this Laverda SF that was converted into a racer about 18 years ago.
Powered by a 744cc parallel twin which pumped out 60 horsepower, this bike was capable of 103 miles per hour. It weighed 507 pounds and some people think it was better looking than the faster Laverda triples of the time period. For more on the Laverda SF, check out this article from Motorcycle Classics, who call it a “flawed masterpiece.”
This specific Laverda SF was turned into a race bike about 18 years ago, after which it raced twice and was then parked until now. Considering the bike initially weighed a shade over 500 pounds, it’s astonishing to hear that this bike has been cut down to 365, thanks to extensive modifications. The front fairing is based on a Ducati 750SS, the seat is a SFC replica, and the top end was replaced with cams, valves, and guides from a SFC. Other additions include 38mm forks from a Yamaha FZR prepped by Vance and Hines, Grimeca four shoe front brake, Tarozzi rear sets, Akront and Borrani rims…you get the idea. It’s nice. The seller also has the necessary parts (except wiring) to convert it into a street bike, if you’d want that sort of thing. You’ll also get plenty of spare SF parts – all in all, this is quite the package.
