The first BMW to be completely manufactured in Berlin, the BMW R75/5 was one of the fastest production bikes of the time. Powered by 50 horsepower and 43 foot-pounds of torque and capable of 110 mph, this bike helped BMW address the rising consumer demand for sport bikes.
With the /5 series, BMW introduced a 12V electrical system, an electric start, and a design that no longer focused on sidecar compatibility. Usage of plastics instead of metal in certain areas helped reduce weight to 463 pounds. This bike is a ’72, which means it was the first year of the 4 gallon Toaster tank.
This specific BMW R75 seems to have over 60,000 miles, but you’d never be able to tell – look at this beauty! It comes with both the touring tank and the classic Toaster tank. It also comes with color-matched Wixom bags, and a couple of period upgrades including Mikuni carbs. We still can’t get over the incredible condition this BMW is in.
