James “Pat” Conroy (AHRMA member #128) has built three excellent XR TTs over the years – one of which won the AHRMA Formula 750 Championship in 1991, 1992, and 1993. In his words, this is a “virtually new ’72 XR750 TT with a brand new 2002 engine built by Carl Patrick”, and it needs a new home.

The listing is well worth a read because of Pat’s detail and the personal nature of his writing – he mentions that he took this bike to race Summit Point when he had a revelation on the main straight, going faster than he wanted to be going: “In an instant, I felt out of place, going that fast, with that much power, and the switch was off for my racing. I had no more desire to go fast; it felt as if I was standing on the top of a flag pole and couldn’t wait to get off the track and drink beer, which I did. I skipped the last race and went and hoisted a few with my buddies, and have not thrown my leg over that bike in anger since. It’s my opinion that the Good Lord was talking to me, and the burning desire to go fast was no longer even smoldering.

Highlights of the work are impressive, with a 2002 motor built by Carl Patrick, Supertrapp exhaust, Motoplat ignition, Progression Suspension shocks, Kosman racing triple trees, custom bodywork by Schafer Fiberglass, custom frame by Jim Carl of Precision Chassis, and plenty more. So Mr. Conroy’s got a competitive XRTT racer, and it needs an owner who’s willing to ride it for what it was built to do. For what it’s worth, Pat was also the seller of “Conroy’s Follie”, the rare Velocette Viceroy scooter featured back in August.
