The OSSA MAR (Mick Andrews Replica) was built after OSSA hired the English rider to design and ride a new trials bike – he went on to win two consecutive European Trials Championships and three consecutive Scottish Six Days Trials with it. In 1973, Andrews moved to Yamaha, but OSSA kept producing this bike into the late 70s and it was highly competitive.
I find these (especially the Mark I generation) to be one of the prettiest trials bikes ever built. Like all trials bikes, they didn’t weigh much – this tips the scales at just 210 pounds, which meant the 244cc 2-stroke engine didn’t have much mass to motivate.
This example (VIN: M-345475) was restored by Mike Slate of Mid Atlantic OSSA. Per the seller, the restoration work included a rebuilt engine, updated rod/piston/bore/bearings/gaskets, updated footpegs, new front tire, new brake shoes, new rear shocks, new OKO carb, and a repaint.
