Carabela was a Mexican motorcycle manufacturer that was best known for their small displacement MX bikes. They also made a 60cc minibike called the MotoPony, which is what you see in front of you today.
The engine was built under license from Minarelli, and Carabela also made a “Formula” version that came with a full fairing.
This example (VIN: M-MP.023139-79) got a recent fuel system cleaning and it’s now in running condition. The previous owner was a collector who recently passed away – the entire collection of 50 bikes was sold to the New England Motorcycle Museum but the museum has to liquidate some inventory to help with construction costs.
