OK. I admit. I’m a sucker for a sidecar. The idea of putting my doggie in the car with a wad of camping gear and going away is a dream of mine. I suppose that means I need a dog. I really do think I’ll end up with a hack when my legs are too shaky for two wheels.
In 1975 Moto Guzzi introduced the 850T to the American market. The first real attempt at a sport bike, and it was pretty darn good. In fact, many consider the ‘76 T3 the best Guzzi of the 70’s. [Editor’s Note: To them I would say, did you forget about the V7 Sport?] It had 3 disc brakes instead of one that the ‘T’ variant had.
The 1975 Moto Guzzi 850T was an entirely new model from Guzzi. It featured an 844 CC air cooled four stroke overhead valve longitudinally mounted 90 degree V-twin motor that made a nice 68 HP. Fueled by two Dell‘Ortro carbs, driven by a 5 speed transmission and the legendary Guzzi shaft the 850 T had a top speed of 120 MPH.
The Velorex 562 car is still in production and is a highly regarded sidecar. With a weight of 164 LBS it is not a flyweight especially when added to the 535 LBS of the 850T. It should make a very manageable cruiser combo.
This particular 1975 Moto Guzzi 850T (VIN: 94031) combo is located in Minneapolis, Minnesota and is listed as a 15,000 mile survivor that is ready to ride. Recent service and a new rear tire along with the cover for the passenger compartment of the car are listed. The current price is at $3,050 with reserve not met and a ‘Buy it Now’ price of $4,295
