In 1975, Norton released the Mark III of the Commando, which came with improvements like an electric starter, rear disc brake, and a left side gear change with right side brake to follow US laws. They also pared down the model offerings – now you could only get a Roadster or an Interstate. Here’s an example of the former that’s been cafe’d and turned into a “solidly restored daily rider.”
This bike (VIN: 333205) has a numbers-matching engine and transmission, and all the work was done at The Classic Bike Experience. 5 years ago the engine was rebuilt and the cylinder was bored out .040″. The clutch was rebuilt with Barnett plates, and the transmission was rebuilt as well. Other work included rebuilt brakes, a new 32mm Mikuni carb, Boyer ignition, Hagon rear shocks, and a Corbin Smuggler seat (which is nearly $900, yowza).
The seller calls this Commando a daily rider, not a show queen. Find it for sale here on Craigslist in Jericho, Vermont for $10,200.
