Post Sale Update: This Phantom sold for $2,750 after 1 bid on eBay.
A twin of Moto Guzzi’s 250TS, the Benelli Phantom 2C couldn’t compete with bikes like the Yamaha RD in outright feats of speed, but it countered with Italian style and quality components: Borrani rims, Marzocchi forks, Veglia instrumentation, and twin Dell’orto carbs. They’re rare finds, and this is one of the best examples I’ve seen for sale in years.
The Phantom 2C features a two-stroke parallel twin 231cc that put out 25 horsepower, enough for a top speed of 90 miles per hour. This example is claimed to have been restored in Philadelphia “a couple years ago” and the seller describes it as a good runner with excellent cosmetics. It has a MZB electronic ignition, newish tires, and what the seller believes is a front brake swap from disc to “the much cooler looking drum front end”.
If it helps with valuation, a ’74 model kickstart example sold for $2,200 at the 2018 Mecum Las Vegas auction. Find this Phantom for sale in Trenton, New Jersey with an unmet opening bid of $2,750
