Post Sale Update: After 26 bids on eBay, this R100S sold for $10,600.

If I was shopping for a classic BMW right now, I’d look for a R100S over the iconic R90S just because of how expensive the latter has become. Here’s a beautiful example of the 100S that probably won’t be cheap either, thanks to a restoration that the seller calls immaculate. You might not agree, but it’s clearly had a lot of work done and it looks great.

The seller’s restoration philosophy with this bike (VIN: 6160018) was to use as many original parts as possible, as long as they can be “cleaned up to like new condition.” Otherwise he has to replace it with a new part or restore it by powdercoating, painting, etc. “Significant new parts” include an OEM exhaust, Motorrad Elektrik digital ignition/diode board/voltage regulator, handlebars, mirrors, and enough parts to rebuild the carbs and front master cylinder. Stock purists will be upset about the Lester mags and some cosmetic choices but I think this bike looks great. What do you think?
