Post-Listing Update: This XLCR was pulled off of eBay, final sale price unknown.
The Harley Davidson XLCR was one of the many bikes in history that was initially hailed as an instant collector bike…that no one bought. Designed by Willie G. Davidson, this bike was supposed to be a black beauty featuring HD’s most powerful production engine yet. The lovely siamese exhaust and bikini fairing were very unique – this was quite the (nearly) chrome-less departure for Harley.
This specific bike (VIN: 7F24995H7) has an interesting claimed history where it was built by the factory for a now-retired Harley executive (Kurt Woerpel, apparently one of the 13 people at HD who bought the company back from AMF in 1981). If you believe the story, it was hand-selected off the production line and was operated on HD factory plates from ’77 to ’81. It has never been titled and is still on the MSO – in addition, the bike has been refreshed (the original black chrome exhaust is faded but included) and has been stored in a plastic bubble with air circulation:
