Initially designed to target the US police bike market, the V1000 Convert was the first production large displacement shaftie. You can probably guess why it was called Convert – the bike had a torque converter which allowed for smooth shifting between the two gears and allowed a rider to stop the bike while in gear.
Ignoring the transmission, specifications were similar to other bikes in the Guzzi line-up – 71 horsepower from a 949cc twin, linked brakes, and accessories designed to help with comfort on longer rides. For more on the Convert, check out this profile from Motorcycle Classics.
This example has 21,000 miles and is claimed to ‘run excellent’ – not much additional information is provided. Find it for sale in Bloomington, Minnesota for $2,850 here on Craigslist.
