Post-Listing Update: This Moto Morini 3 1/2 Sport was removed from eBay, final sale price unknown.
If I created some sort of “Dictionary of Motorcycling”, the Moto Morini 3 1/2 Sport would be the primary example of a cult classic. Cycle World said it best when they stated “For the lucky few, the Morini is worth what it costs.”
Why the cost caveat from Cycle World? Well, despite being powered by a 344cc V-Twin, this bike cost just as much as a Honda CB750 – about $2,100. Weighing just 320 pounds, this bike was capable of the ton as the twin produced 39 horsepower. But the main reason this bike stood out was due to its phenomenal handling. These bikes were rare when new, and even more scarce now, but the original US importer is still in business if you need spare parts. Want to learn more? We recommend you check out a writeup from Motorcycle Classics. There’s just something about that giant “Sport” emblem on the triple tree that makes me happy – seems like the kind of thing that would make you want to go even faster with your head tucked in and the “Sport” taking up a large part of your peripheral vision, constantly reminding you of what the bike is.
This specific Moto Morini 3 1/2 Sport (VIN: A314792) has spent the last 10 years in a museum, and will need the standard refresh including a carb cleaning and a new battery. It has just 10,456 miles – hopefully the new owner will be putting many more on!
