Post Sale Update: This custom Ducati sold for $6,986 after 18 bids on eBay in Berkeley, California.

The seller of this custom Ducati knows what you’re probably thinking, which is why he quickly mentions the following in his listing: “I should say I did not destroy a GTS 900 to build this bike — when I acquired it, the previous owner had parted most of the bike out during an ill fated attempt to build a drag bike conversion (no comment). Ducati purists can stop reading now.” But if you’re not a purist (or you thought the original 900 GTS wasn’t very pretty anyway), feel free to read on…

After acquiring this incomplete bike (VIN: 855026), the seller took approximately two years to bring it back to life with a combination of used, NOS, and custom parts. It won 3rd place at the 2016 Deus Ex Machina Bike Build Off in Venice, California.

When the seller acquired it, it had approximately 15,000 miles on it. After the engine was rebuilt (and bored out to 989cc), the seller put on another 1,000 miles. The Smiths gauges currently on the machine do not reflect the correct mileage. Other noteworthy features include a Gear Gazer window, 32mm Dell’Orto carbs with Malossi trumpets, Conti mufflers, Tomaselli grips, Beringer levers, Galfer stainless steel braided brake lines, Brembo Silverline calipers, Ohlins rear shocks, and some interesting cast bronze badges for the tank. The overall look doesn’t work for me, though there’s several individual details I like. What do you think?
