If you’re on this site regularly – you know the Bimota story. Especially in the 70s and 80s, Bimota made an name for themselves by taking highly developed Japanese engines that were surrounded by frames that weren’t as sophisticated, and then gave these powerplants a fitting home. Bimota’s first Japanese partnership was with Honda, but the KB1 stands for a link with Kawasaki, providing a home for the excellent Z1 engine.
One of the first bikes with an adjustable steering head angle, about 800 KB1s were built from ’77 to ’82, putting this example in the middle of production. For more information on the KB1, check out this article from Vintage Motorcycles Online.
This example is claimed to be in excellent condition and includes what the seller describes as a factory optional “A” kit that included Brembo brakes, Marzocchi forks, and Bimota star wheels made of magnesium. It also has an impressive 35,307 miles, more than you normally see on older (or really any) Bimotas. Kudos to the previous owners!
